Overview

Running Python automation scripts, telemetry harvesters, web scrapers, or administrative daemons on Android typically requires installing Termux or setting up a complete Linux PRoot container. While capable, these solutions operate inside app-isolated sandboxes, requiring explicit file permission granting and background process management to stay running.

Created by Mrakorez, Py2Droid is a systemless root module that deploys a native Python 3 runtime directly into the root Android environment. It exposes python3 and pip globally across any root shell, ADB console, or background boot script.

Key Capabilities

  • Bionic-Linked Binary: Unlike glibc-based Python distributions running inside proot containers, Py2Droid is compiled specifically for Android’s Bionic C runtime, ensuring lightning-fast startup and negligible memory footprint.
  • Pip Package Installation: Includes pip out of the box, allowing you to install automation libraries (requests, beautifulsoup4, schedule, flask) directly:
    su -c pip install requests
  • Direct Hardware & Root Shell Access: Python scripts executed via Py2Droid run with native root privileges, able to inspect sysfs nodes, invoke Toybox commands, and interface directly with Android services.

Installation & Verification

  1. Download the latest py2droid-v*.zip archive from GitHub releases.
  2. Install the module via Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch.
  3. Reboot your device.
  4. Open any terminal app (such as Termux) or connect via adb shell, acquire root, and verify the interpreter:
    su
    python3 --version
