Overview

Redmi K30 Pro Symmetric Dual Speakers (authored by Qiancheng Mobai, modified by CallMeMiao) is a dedicated acoustic optimization module engineered for the Redmi K30 Pro and POCO F2 Pro (codename lmi / lmipro).

While equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship platform, the Redmi K30 Pro originally shipped with a single bottom-firing loudspeaker. This module reprograms the low-level ALSA mixer paths in Qualcomm’s Audio HAL, unlocking stereo audio reproduction by leveraging the top earpiece receiver as an auxiliary high-mid channel.

Technical Architecture & How It Works

The audio subsystem on Qualcomm SM8250 platforms relies on XML configuration files parsed by /vendor/lib/hw/audio.primary.kona.so during boot:

1. ALSA Mixer Path Modifications

The module binds an optimized mixer_paths.xml over the vendor filesystem:

<!-- Example stereo routing configuration -->
<path name="deep-buffer-playback">
    <ctl name="SLIM_0_RX Channels" value="Two" />
    <ctl name="SLIM_0_RX" value="SLIM_0_RX" />
    <ctl name="EAR PA Gain" value="POS_1_5_DB" />
    <ctl name="RX_EAR Digital Volume" value="92" />
</path>
  • Channel Separation: Routes Left stereo audio stream to the ear receiver amplifier and Right stereo audio stream to the primary bottom speaker amplifier.
  • Gain Balancing: Because the top earpiece diaphragm is smaller than the bottom loudspeaker chamber, digital volume scaling is set to 92 to maintain acoustic balance across the stereo field without causing acoustic distortion.

2. Audio Stage Isolation

The patch isolates multimedia playback paths (deep-buffer-playback, compress-offload-playback, multichannel-playback) while retaining default settings for voice-call, voip-call, and incall-rec, ensuring calls remain unaffected.

Installation & Verification

  1. Flash the module zip file in Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch.
  2. Reboot the device.
  3. Test stereo separation with a stereo test track on YouTube or an audio player.
  4. Verify that audio emanates clearly from both the top grille and the bottom speaker grille.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does routing media through the earpiece damage the speaker hardware?

No. The calibrated digital gain value (level 92) operates well within the safe thermal and excursion limits of the receiver coil, providing clear sound without distortion or overheating.

Will my phone calls still work privately without speakerphone?

Yes. The mixer XML definitions specifically isolate multimedia audio playback profiles from telecommunication voice call routes (voice-earpiece), keeping private calls strictly private.
