Overview

Certain modern MediaTek-powered smartphones (most notably the Poco X6 Pro and related Redmi/Xiaomi models utilizing Awinic smart audio amplifiers) exhibit an annoying hardware race condition on cold boot: the speaker amplifiers power up and begin polling for I2S/TDM audio data before the MediaTek Digital Signal Processor (DSP) firmware has completely initialized.

This desynchronization causes internal speakers to sound tinny, distorted, crackling, or robotic until the system audio stack is reset.

Developed by ahmed-alnassif, DSP Audio Fix resolves this issue completely. Rather than requiring complex kernel patches or vendor firmware modifications, the module schedules a clean, automated restart of the Android audio subsystem exactly 20 seconds after boot—giving the DSP sufficient time to initialize before binding the smart amplifiers cleanly.

The Timing Mechanism

  1. Boot Initialization: During early startup, MediaTek kernel drivers initialize physical hardware while Android’s audioserver spawns.
  2. Delayed Execution: The module’s service.sh launches a 20-second non-blocking sleep timer during late boot, allowing device decoders and DSP binaries to finish loading into memory.
  3. Subsystem Reset: At the 20-second mark, the script issues a graceful restart to Android’s audioserver process (killall -9 audioserver or vendor HAL restart).
  4. Clean Handshake: When audioserver respawns, it binds immediately to the fully prepared DSP and Awinic amplifier circuits, restoring crystal-clear audio fidelity for the remainder of your uptime.

Installation & Setup

  1. Download the DSP-AudioFix .zip from GitHub.
  2. Flash the module in KernelSU or Magisk.
  3. Reboot your device.
  4. Allow the phone to sit for 20 seconds after reaching the lock screen.
  5. Play any audio track or video to confirm that speaker clarity is restored.
