Overview
For years, Greenify was the gold standard for Android battery optimization and background application management. However, modern Android security permissions prevent standard user-installed applications from forcibly freezing background tasks or observing process lifecycle events without requiring tedious manual ADB permission grants after every factory reset. Furthermore, Greenify’s signature “Boost Mode” originally demanded an active Xposed framework.
Developed by Drsexo, Greenify4Magisk/KSU Reborn brings Greenify into the modern root era. By mounting the application systemlessly into the Android privileged system directory (/system/priv-app/), it automatically grants Greenify full privileged platform permissions—unlocking Boost Mode and seamless automated background hibernation across KernelSU, Magisk, and APatch.
Privileged Architecture Benefits
When mounted as a privileged system application, Greenify gains access to internal Android system permissions:
android.permission.DUMP: Allows Greenify to inspect battery stats and process states directly fromActivityManager.android.permission.PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS: Monitors when apps transition to the background without polling delays.android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS: Modifies device idle parameters to synchronize hibernation with screen-off states.- Boost Mode™ Unlocked: Operates via direct system services rather than simulating accessibility touch gestures on screen.
