Overview
Maintained by kakashi1v1 and Mods-Center, the HyperOS Launcher Mod provides an enhanced, unlocked version of Xiaomi’s flagship HyperOS System Launcher (com.miui.home).
While stock HyperOS introduces fluid animations and streamlined layouts, Xiaomi restricts desktop customization options—such as grid dimensions, folder sizing, and animation curves—on global firmware builds. This module systemlessly mounts an optimized launcher binary with these restrictions unlocked.
Technical Architecture & How It Works
Framework Overlay & Package Binding
The module functions through systemless APK substitution:
- Systemless Mount: During boot, the module overlays the modified
MIUIHome.apkonto the system launcher directory in/system/priv-app/or/product/priv-app/. - Feature Flags: Directly patches internal Smali bytecode to bypass regional hardware profile restrictions, exposing hidden configuration flags in launcher settings.
- Hardware Acceleration: Preserves full integration with Xiaomi’s proprietary physics engine and blur shaders.
Installation & Setup
- Verify that your device is running Xiaomi HyperOS (Android 14+).
- Download the latest
HyperOS-Launcher-*.ziprelease. - Flash the module in Magisk or KernelSU.
- Reboot the device.
- Long-press on the home screen and tap Settings > More to access the unlocked launcher options.
Configuration & Usage
Inside Home Screen Settings:
- Home Screen Layout: Select expanded grid ratios such as
5x7,6x7, or6x8. - Folder Columns: Configure enlarged folders to display custom icon densities.
- Icon Titles: Toggle label visibility for a minimalist aesthetic.
Troubleshooting & Common Issues
- Launcher Stutter on First Boot: Xiaomi’s system launcher caches icon database indexes. Allow 1–2 minutes after initial reboot for the launcher to finish database indexing, or clear launcher cache if necessary.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I flash this on an AOSP or Pixel device?
No. The HyperOS Launcher requires Xiaomi's proprietary framework libraries (MIUI/HyperOS framework, theme services, and animation engines). It will crash immediately on non-Xiaomi ROMs.
What should I do if the launcher force-closes after flashing?
Go to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > System Launcher, clear data and cache, and restart your phone. If a bootloop occurs, remove the module using your root manager's safe mode or TWRP.
