Overview

HyperUnlocked, developed by ukriu, is a systemless customization and feature unmasking module designed exclusively for Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones running HyperOS or MIUI. Xiaomi’s stock firmware frequently segments features by price tier—disabling Gaussian blurs, depth-of-field lock screens, high refresh rate options, and advanced camera algorithms on budget and midrange silicon, even when the underlying hardware is fully capable of rendering them.

HyperUnlocked modifies vendor overlays, system feature XML declarations, and framework properties systemlessly. Managed via an interactive WebUI, it allows users to selectively toggle flagship features without modifying read-only system partitions.

Prerequisites & Compatibility

  • Target Hardware & ROM: Strictly designed for Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices running MIUI or HyperOS. Running HyperUnlocked on stock Android, AOSP, or other OEM skins will result in boot failure or crashed framework services.
  • Root Solution: Compatible with Magisk, KernelSU, and APatch.
  • Metamodule Requirement (KernelSU):
    • Users running KernelSU or its forks must install a metamodule. A Magic Mount metamodule is strongly recommended; while OverlayFS functions, certain framework assets may fail to bind cleanly.
    • In KernelSU settings, ensure “Umount modules by default” is disabled so system framework processes retain access to unlocked overlays.
  • WebUI Host:
    • In KernelSU, access the WebUI directly from the module card.
    • In Magisk, install WebUI X or MMRL.

Unlocked Capabilities

Through the WebUI interface, users can configure several feature categories:

  1. System UI & Blurs: Replaces static grey backgrounds with dynamic Gaussian blurs across the notification shade, control center, and volume sliders.
  2. Lock Screen Depth Effects: Enables multi-layered depth wallpapers where subject elements dynamically overlap the lock screen clock.
  3. Control Center Upgrades: Restores missing hardware toggles (camera access kill switches, microphone privacy indicators) and media player cards on low-end profiles.
  4. Camera & Gallery Enhancements: Exposes disabled shooting modes, document scanner profiles, and gallery AI object erasers.
  5. App Vault & Desktop Widgets: Unlocks custom desktop super icons and interactive widgets.

Installation & Configuration

  1. Download the latest HyperUnlocked.zip release from the repository.
  2. Flash the module using your root manager.
  3. Reboot the device.
  4. Launch the WebUI to review and toggle individual feature groups.
  5. Apply your selections and reboot if prompted by the interface to rebuild Android’s resource cache.
  6. Module files and state persist in:
    /data/adb/modules/hyperunlocked/

Troubleshooting & Considerations

  • UI Stuttering or Frame Drops: Enabling “Advanced Textures” or high-intensity real-time blurs on entry-level GPUs (such as low-tier Snapdragon 600-series or Helio chipsets) can introduce interface lag. If frame rates drop, disable advanced textures within the WebUI while retaining lock styles and control center features.
  • WebUI Does Not Open on Magisk: Ensure you have installed MMRL or WebUI X Standalone, and grant the WebUI runner root permissions when prompted.
