Overview
Nintendo Switch System Sound Effects Mod (authored by Aimer) provides a playful, high-quality acoustic overhaul for Android devices by implementing Nintendo Switch UI audio effects.
Technical Architecture & How It Works
The module leverages Magisk’s overlayfs mounting to overlay /system/media/audio/ui/:
/system/media/audio/ui/
├── Lock.ogg # Switch screen sleep sound
├── Unlock.ogg # Switch home button wake sound
├── Effect_Tick.ogg # Switch menu navigation cursor sound
├── Keypress_Standard.ogg # Tactile button click
├── Charger_Connection.ogg # Joy-Con snap-in connection acoustic
└── LowBattery.ogg # Switch warning chime
When Android’s AudioService processes sound pool events, it loads these replaced OGG files directly into memory with zero playback latency.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I not hear sounds when tapping keyboard keys?
Keyboard click sounds are managed independently by your keyboard application (e.g. Gboard). Enable keyboard sound in Gboard Settings -> Preferences -> Sound on keypress.
How do I revert to stock Android sounds?
Simply disable or uninstall the module in your root manager and reboot. Your original system audio files remain untouched.
