Overview & System Architecture
The Dolby Atmos Xiaomi Tuning & Pad 6 Max Surround module (version bate7) is an audio enhancement package authored by xiaoran777. Designed to refine stock Dolby Atmos profiles on Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphones, this module addresses common complaints regarding flat bass response and overly harsh treble at elevated volume levels.
In addition to dynamic range equalization, the module incorporates acoustic spatial profiles extracted from the 14-inch Xiaomi Pad 6 Max eight-speaker sound system, bringing simulated 3D spatial surround sound to standard smartphone stereo speakers and wireless earphones.
Inspected Archive Components
The module cleanly replaces the master Dolby Atmos XML definition file:
/system/vendor/etc/dolby/dax-default.xml
Within dax-default.xml, the following DSP sound processing nodes are modified:
- Bass Enhancement Stage: Extended low-frequency harmonic generator centered around 60Hz–120Hz to produce punchy bass without inducing speaker diaphragm rattling.
- Treble Softening Filter: Attenuates 6kHz–10kHz peak frequencies to eliminate sibilance in female vocals and cymbals.
- Bluetooth Equalizer Unlock: Allows custom user EQ adjustments across SBC, AAC, aptX Adaptive, and LDAC Bluetooth audio streams.
- Pad 6 Max Spatial Matrix: Expands virtual inter-aural time delay (ITD) to widen soundstage perception.
Installation & Verification
Step 1: Flashing the Module
Flash the zip using Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch:
# Inspect the active dax configuration file
ls -l /data/adb/modules/xiaomi-dolby-atmos-enhancer/system/vendor/etc/dolby/dax-default.xml
Step 2: Reboot & Verify Dolby Daemon
Reboot the device and check whether the Dolby daemon (dms / dax) successfully loaded the modified configuration without XML parsing errors:
logcat -d | grep -iE "dax|dolby|dms" | head -n 30
Step 3: Test Equalizer in Settings
Open Settings > Sound & Vibration > Sound Effects / Dolby Atmos. Verify that custom equalizer sliders respond dynamically during Bluetooth playback.
Compatibility & Notes
- Requirements: Devices with pre-existing Dolby Atmos framework support (MIUI / HyperOS, Motorola, Realme, OnePlus with OPlus Dolby).
- Non-Dolby Devices: If your device lacks native Dolby HAL libraries, this module alone will not create a Dolby stack from scratch; it modifies existing Dolby Atmos processing rules.
