Overview

Twitter’s Twemoji icon set is celebrated across the web for its vibrant colors, modern flat styling, and clear expressive emotional cues. While Android ships with Google’s stock NotoColorEmoji by default, many users prefer Twemoji’s aesthetic consistency across both web desktop apps and mobile devices.

Maintained by Magisk-Modules-Alt-Repo (incorporating builds based on JoeBlakeB and WhyNotHugo’s scripts), ttf-twemoji is a systemless root module that replaces the default Android system emoji font (NotoColorEmoji.ttf) with Twemoji.

Technical Implementation

  • Color Glyph Encoding: Utilizes the standard Android-compatible CBDT/CBLC color font tables, ensuring that emojis scale sharply on 1080p, 1440p, and 4K mobile displays without fuzziness.
  • Unicode Coverage: Incorporates recent Unicode standard emojis, including skin tone modifiers, multi-person families, and contemporary reaction glyphs.
  • Safety: Modifies no read-only partitions directly, ensuring Google Play Integrity and OTA updates remain unaffected.

  2. Open Magisk, navigate to Modules > Install from storage, and select the zip file.
  3. Confirm flashing and reboot your phone.
  4. Open your keyboard or messaging apps to view the newly active Twemoji artwork.
