Overview
When browsing technical documentation, academic papers, multilingual forums, or international social media, Android users frequently encounter empty rectangular boxes or question marks—colloquially known as “tofu.” This occurs because Android’s stock font fallback configuration (fonts.xml) omits glyphs for specialized mathematical symbols, ancient or rare scripts, and extended Unicode blocks to conserve ROM storage.
Developed by Losketch, UnicodeFontSet-magisk-module (UFS-Magisk) is an all-inclusive systemless font module. It integrates a comprehensive collection of fallback typefaces—including modern COLRv1 color vector fonts—to guarantee that virtually every character defined in modern Unicode standards renders legibly.
What Characters Are Unlocked?
- Scientific & Mathematical Blocks: Full mathematical alphanumeric symbols, logic operators, arrows, integrals, and technical symbols.

Non-Destructive Fallback Architecture
Unlike basic font mods that overwrite your main system font, Unicode Font Set acts strictly as an appended fallback layer in fonts.xml. Your device’s primary interface font (Roboto, MiSans, One UI Sans) remains the primary renderer for daily text, with UFS typefaces queried only when a character is absent from standard font files.
Installation
- Download the latest
UnicodeFontSet-COLRv1-module.zipfrom GitHub releases. - Open Magisk, navigate to Modules > Install from storage, and flash the package.
- Reboot your device to load the expanded font fallback definitions.
