Overview
Developed by Rev4N1, GPhotosUnlimited is a systemless customization module that enables free, unlimited photo and video backups within Google Photos.
Google historically granted lifetime unlimited cloud storage to early Google Pixel devices. GPhotosUnlimited injects targeted build property overrides into the Google Photos application process at launch, convincing Google’s servers that media uploads originate from an eligible Pixel device without modifying system-wide device identities.
Technical Architecture & How It Works
Targeted Application Property Injection
The module functions by scoping property hooks:
- Process Detection: Identifies launches of
com.google.android.apps.photos. - Property Replacement: Overrides runtime build properties (
ro.product.model,ro.product.manufacturer,ro.product.brand) within the target application’s memory space to emulate legitimate Pixel hardware (e.g. Pixel XLmarlin). - Global Isolation: System applications, banking apps, and mobile games continue reading the authentic OEM device properties.
Installation & Setup
- Download the latest
GPhotosUnlimited-*.ziprelease. - Flash the module in Magisk, KernelSU, or APatch.
- Follow the terminal prompts to select your desired Pixel profile.
- Reboot the device.
- Open Google Photos > Settings > Backup to confirm that unlimited storage status is active.
Configuration & Usage
If Google Photos fails to reflect unlimited backup status immediately after reboot:
- Clear the cache and app data of the Google Photos app via Settings > Apps > Google Photos > Storage > Clear Data.
- Re-open the app and complete initial setup.
Troubleshooting & Common Issues
- Backup Quota Still Consumed: Ensure you have cleared the Google Photos application cache after installation so the app re-evaluates device backup entitlements from Google’s servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will GPhotosUnlimited change my device model in other apps or games?
No. Unlike legacy device spoofers that edit /system/build.prop globally, GPhotosUnlimited isolates its property overrides specifically to the com.google.android.apps.photos package process.
Does this provide Original quality or Storage Saver unlimited backups?
Depending on the device profile selected during flashing (Pixel 1 vs Pixel 5), it unlocks either lifetime unlimited Original quality backups (Pixel 1 emulation) or unlimited Storage Saver backups.
